Its been nearly 18 months and we are now on our way from San Diego to Newport, RI for another 18 month tour. Another sailing town! Its been a whirlwind stent here. We have had another baby - Ransom Loren Plaster (Sept. 23, 2006). Its crazy to think that Rhys was only 1 month old when we moved from Pearl Harbor, HI to SD! She is now almost 2 years old! My brother Jesse went to be with Jesus last Dec. 4th, after courageously battling ALL. We have moved through a whole year of grief and are continuing to process our loss but his gain!! Graham helped out as the assistant pastor to Point Loma Vineyard Church and then helped to close it down to due to the head pastor's son's illness/recovery. We moved over to Coast Vineyard in La Jolla, where my family goes (Jesse's home church during his illness) and immediately got involved in a family home group. I had already been in a play group with some of the moms from the home group so it was an easy transition. We were able to "take a break" from formal ministry and have a little down time as we prepared for Ransom's arrival. We still found ourselves "doing the stuff" each week but less of it was centered around our home.
Through much prayer I was able to go exactly 40 weeks to the day with Ransom!! We are so thankful because with Kyrie and Rhys I had pre-term labor.
A joy for us this tour has been the close proximity to my family. Mama and Dad moved here with Jesse to be close to all of us kids. Doug and Kyla have been stationed at North Island Naval Air Station in Coronado and Dwight is finishing up college at Point Loma Nazarene University. It was a regular occurence to have Dwight and Tiffany, his new fiance, over for dinner or to babysit. Kallie and Brenna, Doug's daughters were buddies with Kyrie and Rhys - we would often meet at the library or eachother's homes for playdates. Every Sunday has been lunch after church with my parents. All this to say our lives seemed like normal (non-military) people's because we were so close to family, a first in four years. This tour in California truly was a miracle.
Now we are off to Annapolis, MD to spend Christmas with Graham's family for a few weeks and then we drive up to Rhode Island to move in!! Graham begins his Master's in English at Salve Regina University and his new job as assistant to the dean of the Naval War College. His ultimate goal is to (Lord willing) teach English at the US Naval Academy, his alma mater. We eagerly await the new adventure ahead of us but we are sad to be leaving our church community and my family. We look forward to hosting friends from SD while we live in beautiful Newport.
Please pray for the sale of our home. We know the Lord has a plan and we are confident he will come through for us, even if that means he wants us to hold on to it.
